Built in 1921, the ambience of is a modernized industrial feel with exposed brick, steel beams and the original windows. Senate Garage does not fail to exude the romance of a bygone era.

Senate Garage sits on four beautifully landscaped acres, colonial grounds belonging to the Senate House State Historic Site. With an 18th century garden and open field surrounded by charming historical buildings, there is plenty of space for an outdoor ceremony and cocktail reception.

The grounds are available from May-October.

Do I need a day of coordinator for my event?2023-11-09T16:48:54-05:00

Yes and you won’t regret it.  We require you to at least have a day-of-coordinator but highly recommend a month-of or full planner.  They help support you both in your planning leading up to your event and act as your personal assistant the day of your event.   They are an invaluable resource and help with all the last minute details. The day of they assist with set up, break down, logistics and timing.

What about parking for wedding guests?2021-04-09T09:10:38-04:00

There is metered street parking and municipal parking in several locations throughout uptown Kingston (meters up till 6pm). There is a large parking lot 1 block away. Valet parking can also be arranged. Many of our parties have used a private bus service to transport guests from the hotel to the venue- allowing your guests to have fun without worry of getting back to the hotel.

Uptown Kingston has several stylish Boutique Hotels that are in walking distance to Senate Garage. Many of the hotels in the area provide group discounted rates. The Kinsley Hotel is our newest boutique hotel. There are many charming B&B’s and Airbnb’s as well as large chain hotels.

Candles are allowed in the space provided they are enclosed in a glass votive.

If you are renting the outdoor grounds, no flame is allowed outside on state property. LED candles are a good alternative. Sparklers are also not allowed, but glow sticks are a good alternative.

Senate Garage has curated a handpicked list of caterers that are familiar with working in our space.  They know what it takes to throw amazing parties and their food is amazing!

We have 10 Rustic Farm Tables and 160 Fruitwood Chiavari Chairs. Depending on your guest count your catering will work with you to add complimentary rental items to choose what reflects your personal vision.

Will there be a staff person from Senate Garage the day of my event?2022-02-03T16:41:52-05:00

Yes. Our Venue Manager  will be onsite throughout most of your event. This person will work with your event coordinator  to answer any questions and help with any last minute needs. They will circulate throughout the event to act as the venue’s primary point of contact for event guests and to answer any venue-related questions, provide general assistance and oversee the property. Senate Garage staff is not responsible for planning or cuing the details of your event.

We can accommodate up to 220 for a seated event with dance floor and up to 400 people for a cocktail style event. We will be happy to discuss your event in detail to help determine how the space could work best for your event.

Smaller weddings also work great in our space. You can have the ceremony, cocktail event and reception all in one space.

No one wants rain on their day, BUT if it does, your caterer or event coordinator will help you pick the best rain plan for your event.  Most weddings, depending on the guest count, can be brought inside.  Inside weddings are beautiful and sometimes even cozier with all your friends and family inside and dry.
