FAQs

What is needed to hold my date and what is my payment schedule?

We request a deposit of $1500 as a first payment to hold your date. This amount is non-refundable. The next payment is due 6 months prior to your event and the remainder of your balance is due 60 days prior. Additionally, we require a $1000 security deposit, which is refunded 10-15 business days after your event, provided there are no damages.

What is the capacity of Senate Garage?

We can accommodate up to 450 guests for a cocktail party or up to 280 for a seated dinner with a dance floor.

What is the rental fee?

Please fill out our contact form online and information and pricing about our space will be available to you in a PDF. You may also tour our space by appointment. Please call us at 845-802-5900 or email Senate Garage to arrange an appointment.

Is there outside grounds?

Senate Garage is surrounded by 4 acres of beautifully manicured State Park gardens. You can rent the outside grounds for an additional small fee through the Senate House.  Please contact Deana or Robyn at the Senate House directly by calling 845-338-2786 to reserve your date.  Senate Garage does not guarantee the grounds are available.  Grounds are available from May-October and have limited availability during that time.

The ground are available to your wedding party to take pictures.  Have your photographer contact the Senate House to fill out a photography permit a month before your wedding date.  The historic grounds offer endless opportunities for beautiful photographs.

How late can my event go into the evening?

Most of our events take place between 9 am-midnight.  Later hours can be arranged.  The outdoor State Park grounds closes earlier.  Please refer to their contract for closing times as they may vary.

Can we hold the ceremony inside Senate Garage?

Yes. Senate Garage is large enough to handle your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception depending on the number of guest you have.  We would be happy to discuss options for your floor layout.

Do we need to get insurance?

We require that all vendors entering into the space are insured and provide a COI (certificate of insurance) listing several entities on their policy; Senate Garage LLC, Front & Fair LLC and DragonSearch LLC.

What about parking?

There is street parking and municipal parking in several locations throughout uptown Kingston. There is a large municipal parking lot 1 block away. Valet parking can also be available for your guests.  We highly recommend using a bus service to transport your guests from the hotel to the venue.  It just makes everything easier for everyone.  If you are able to rent the outside grounds of the Senate House State Park, there are 30 spots that come with that rental.  Rental days are limited by the state park service and handled separately.

Does Senate Garage provide an in-house caterer?

Senate Garage has an exclusive partnership with an award winning caterer, Bridge Creek Catering.  They are a full service caterer who will  work with you to craft an event that reflects you.  Bridge Creek Catering will help with initial planning, budgeting and developing a menu.  They will continue to be involved in logistics, coordination of rentals and staffing.  Their staff will also help make sure your event is well organized and running smoothly.  We have found that our clients appreciate our all-in approach and find it helpful in planning their event.  We do not allow other caterers into our space.

 

Do I need a day of coordinator for my event?

It depends.  Bridge Creek Catering provides many levels of service depending on your needs and budget, including day of coordination.  Their services include, but not limited to: coordinating with decorators, florists, dj’s, photographers, etc.: setting up place cards, favors, table decorations; maintaining timing and flow by guiding you and your guests along the scheduled activities; overseeing the catering staff and ensuring proper set up, complete event services and breakdown at the end.  Many brides find they don’t need a day of coordinator beyond what Bridge Creek provides.  In addition, a building manager will be present during your event to answer any questions and provide basic assistance with the use of the building.

 

Is there a kitchen?

Senate Garage has a fully equipped kitchen with plenty of stainless steel counter space, 2 refrigerators, ice maker, sink, electric stove, freezer, microwave and warmer. We do not allow open flame inside our building.

Are there restrictions on what time music must end?

Yes. City ordinance requires amplified music be turned off by 2am. If you are renting the outside state park grounds, amplified music needs to be turned off by 10pm.

Does the building have heat and AC?

Happy to report—YES!

Am I allowed to keep the large garage door open during our event?

Yes but you may want to hire a security guard so that you don’t have people wandering into your event off the streets.

What is the cancellation policy?

Any payments already paid are non-refundable. If the event is canceled within 60 days prior to the event date, the client agrees to pay any outstanding balance.

What time can we start setting up?

You and your vendors can have access to the building the morning of your event. If your event is on Saturday night and we do not have an event on Friday, you can come in Friday between 9am-5pm. We will try to be flexible to your needs depending on our other scheduled events.

Can I use real candles?

Real candles are allowed in the space provided they are enclosed in a glass votive.

Do you have a partnership with a local hotel offering discount booking for multiple rooms, or a complimentary room/upgrade for the newlyweds?

There are many hotels in the area that provide group discounted rates. If you want your guests to stay close by- I highly recommend The Best Western just 5 minutes from Senate Garage. There are many hotels and bed & breakfasts located within 10 minutes.  There are also beautiful airbnb’s in the area that can be used for the bridal family- refer to our vendor list for recommendations.

What is included in the venue fee?

The venue fee includes the use of the entire 7500 sq feet first floor of the building, a full catering kitchen, private lounge area or bridal suite, onsite manager, use of bar,  one portable bar and use of video and media equipment if needed.
